Paul Mccartney’s Newest Album: Electric Arguments

Paul McCartney’s newest album, Electric Arguments, is not actually under the name Paul McCartney (or even Wings) but under the name The Fireman. The Fireman is an experimental music collaboration between McCartney and a producer who goes by the name Youth (Martin Glover.) Electric Arguments is actually their third album. Their first two were 1993′s Strawberries Oceans Ships Forest & 1998′s Rushes.

Unlike their first two albums, Electric Arguments is more vocal based. The songs are songs rather than just soundscapes. Rushes was a spaced out ambient album that only included vocals occasionally and when they were included they were sparsely as effects not as a melody line.

Paul McCartney’s Seven Best Post Beatles Albums

Too often people dismiss Paul McCartney‘s entire career after The Beatles. It’s become such “conventional wisdom” that Paul McCartney was no good after The Beatles that a lot of people don’t even question it. But really the whole idea makes no sense. The guy who wrote so many of The Beatles greatest songs, the guy who was behind many of The Beatles greatest ideas, the guy who wrote such amazing bass lines with The Beatles, this guy is suddenly no good at making music because he’s on his own? It makes no sense, and it’s not true.

Last week I wrote my article about the Beatles.  On August first, I went to see Paul McCartney in concert.  It was a last minute decision because I had to have a colonoscopy on the third.  I came close to postponing the procedure because I didn’t know if I would ever have the chance to see Sir Paul in concert.  Then my daughter and I got a brainstorm, we figured out that we could see the concert on the first, spend the night at a motel, drink the stuff for the colonoscopy on the second, and have the procedure done on the third and I could check the McCartney concert off of my ever growing bucket list!
