Some music just seems to stand the test of time and I am sure that the Beatles top the list.  Iconic legends of times and music gone by there are surely just as many if more Beatles fans today as there were back when this music first hit the music store shelves.

I remember the first time I heard “Won’t Get Fooled Again”, 1980. Keith Moon had been dead for two years but I didn’t know. I had no idea who Keith Moon was. No idea who the band was that sang this classic rock anthem. In 1980, I was just old enough to appreciate rock, classic rock. I was tired of The Bay City Rollers (give me a break, I was a kid). It was time to graduate; not in a cognisant way but in a magically natural moment that grips you, no matter what age you are. All of us experience these feelings of amazement and wonderment to something new… and never forget that moment and time. Music is that powerful. More powerful than any book or movie, music can touch your soul, stop you in your tracks with its sound and lyrics and bring back memories that, once forgotten, can touch a persons heart with joy or sadness. This is what music does to us… and more than any musician(s), The Who affect and reach me like no other band.

When people discuss A Day In The Life Beatles producer George Martin is often the centerpiece of the conversation. Referred to as ‘the fifth Beatle’, Martin was instrumental in helping the Beatles achieve the ever-more complex soundscapes that filled their heads towards the end of their time together as a band.

Back in our parents’ day, they didn’t have any iPod and ringtone and music download. They didn’t have the luxury and convenience of our music blogs and snazzy stuffs like that. E.g., when they wanted to seize the new Duran Duran album, they couldn’t just troll the Internet for it, they had to do it the old-fashioned way — by hiking to the store, standing in line, waiting under blazing sun or pouring rain. That’s why we youngsters don’t appreciate that so-called real value of music. Or Duran Duran.
